My Story
Jennifer Turpin is a self-taught artist originally from Ludowici, GA. Raised in a family of makers, she grew up surrounded by women who believed that if something didn't exist, you learned how to make it yourself. Creativity wasn't a weekend activity. It was woven into everyday life, whether through painting, sewing, gardening, or just finding a better way to do something.
That same curiosity eventually led her to a career in science, where she earned her PhD in Microbiology. Her professional life runs on observation, analysis, and problem-solving and she jokes that she's a scientist by day and an artist by night, but really, both start the same way: paying attention, and looking a little closer.
Working primarily in acrylic and oil, Jennifer paints people, pets, plants, and subjects inspired by the communities around her. After relocating to Middle Tennessee more than a decade ago, she found new inspiration in the landscapes, wildlife, and people here. Whether it's the personality of a beloved pet, the character of a local landmark, or the shape of a single flower, she hopes her paintings do one simple thing: make you slow down and notice something you'd otherwise walk right past.
New work — and the occasional look at what's still wet on the easel — shows up first on [Instagram/TikTok @artby_jenturpin] before it ever makes it her
