I found this little guy weaving in and out of traffic on the highway. It was no bigger than my hand, with a bloody nose and a cut on his tail. I pulled over, wrapped him up in the scarf I had on me, and got off at the next exit. A few phone calls later, he was on his way to Walden's Puddle in Nashville, where the wildlife rehabbers took it from there.
This piece is my way of holding onto that weekend with him hanging by his tail, curious and a little wide-eyed, against a deep green background. Original acrylic painting on panel board, painted with loose, expressive brushwork and a warm, painterly palette.
